Health Centre
Central Hawke’s Bay Health Centre, situated in Cook Street, Waipukurau, was established in January 2000 after the closure of the old Waipukurau Hospital. Four medical practitioners are based at the centre along with the CHB Physiotherapy Unit. The health centre has a radiology unit, satellite laboratory, mental health and addiction services. There are six sub-acute medical beds and three low-risk maternity beds. Central Hawke’s Bay Health Centre offers a wide range of outpatient & community services.

Rubbish - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
Central Hawke’s Bay District Council has adopted the policy of Zero Waste to landfill by 2015 and has implemented a Waste Management System, which includes:
• A recycling programme
• Separation of green waste
• Limited days and hours at transfer station
• Waste minimisation education
A kerbside collection is provided for both residential and commercial addresses. This collection requires official CHBDC rubbish bags only.

Civic Theatre

The modern Civic Theatre wears a coat of paint in a carnival of colour created by a French artist.
The theatre shows the latest films and is available for meetings, exhibitions and a variety of events, including live shows. The Civic Theatre also houses Mitchell’s restaurant.

This indoor stadium is a new and valuable asset, which adjoins the Westpac Indoor Pool complex. These two wonderful complexes are the envy of many larger communities and are the result of establishment committees determined to provide the same or better sporting facilities for Waipukurau.

The heated indoor pool is a modern & inviting facility for the whole family to enjoy. There is a learners’ pool with a beach area, as well as a 25-metre lane swimming pool. Both pools have easy access for the disabled.

Structured classes include learn-to-swim, squad training, masters’ swimming and aqua jogging.
Holiday programmes add a variety of activities to teach children water confidence.

A sheltered BBQ area means you can spend a whole day at your convenience.
